Injuries are one of the toughest thing to predict and can derail some of the most promising NHL careers. That's exactly what has happened to Carolina Hurricanes' forward Ondrej Kase. Kase is a good hockey player but his recent health troubles has overshadowed his NHL career.

Kase has been in concussion protocol since October 13. The good news is he upped his workload, he has been taking part in team practices and morning skates intermittently since December 16 in a no-contact jersey.

The 27 year old Kase signed a one-year deal with the Hurricanes in the summer with a cap hit of $1,500,000. He played one game this season before going on the IR.

Reports are surfacing that Kase won't play another NHL game and plans on returning to his home country's Czech league next season. Puck reporter Jakub Koreis claims that the 27-year-old puck is likely to sign a contract with HC Verva Litvinov.

Kase has had a productive NHL career when healthy, producing 57 goals and 124 points in 258 games. The number of concussions he has suffered is worrying but he wants to continue playing the game and you have to commend that.
