Anaheim Ducks young star could miss the rest of the season due to injury
The Anaheim Ducks have confirmed that Jamie Drysdale has a torn labrum and will miss four to six months. Drysdale injured himself when he was checked behind the net in Friday nights game against the Vegas Golden Knights. While the hit looked routine, Drysdale's left arm got caught behind him as he was hit. He immediately hunched over and favored his left shoulder. He skated to the bench and did not return.
This is sad news for Anaheim and their fans. The ducks are probably not going to be playoff contenders this year. However, they have a young and exciting group of young players who will be a part of Anaheim's future. Drysdale is one of those promising young players. Drysdale was Anaheim's first round pick back in 2020. This has to be disappointing for Drysdale as well. It's likely he misses most of the season and he won't be able to continue his development or get acquainted with playing in the NHL on a full time basis.
For now, Anaheim has the defensive depth to replace Drysdale in the lineup. The organization has to be disappointed with this injury as well. Anaheim is giving many of their young players a chance to play full time and many are handling it well. The loss of Drysdale means delaying any further progress for him this season. Let's hope surgery goes well and he has a speedy recover and can get back on the ice and be one hundred percent again.
