When a player is only a few years removed from a 100 point season, you'd think he would command a lot at a trade deadline, right? Considering not too long ago the Devils managed to get a grade A prospect Nolan Foote and round 1 pick in return for Blake Coleman, who is a very good player, but has never scored more than 36 points.

We also saw Barclay Goodrow get traded to the same team at the deadline for a first round pick and a "prospect." So a player of GIroux's calibre you would expect to receive a large sum in return, right?

The Colorado Avalanche are loaded with talent, and young talent at that, from top to bottom. Players like Alex Newhook, Bowen Byram, Tyson Jost, Justin Barron etc.. you'd think that this would be the opportunity for the Flyers to take advantage of these huge names and really score for the future. But apparently this is not the case at all.

The Flyers are rumoured to be interested in Drew Helleson, a defenceman from Boston College who the Avalanche selected in the second round back in 2019.

So while he is not the huge name of some of these other players, he has quite the resume already. Helleson just represented Team U.S.A at the World Juniors in 2021 scoring 4 points in 7 games and at the Olympics in 2022 putting up an assist in 3 games.

Do the Flyers know something about this young defenceman that we don't? Is he a future NHL star?
