Barry Trotz has made a decision on when he'll return to coaching
Barry Trotz will have a positive impact wherever he goes, as a Stanley Cup-winning coach in 2018. Afterward, he moved on to New York and took the Islanders from a mediocre team, with a veteran core and turned them into a playoff team.
Trotz will be in demand wherever he chooses to go and had a pick of many coaching jobs in the NHL now filled. However, he talked about his future recently.
"I don't know yet," the 60-year-old said on the latest episode of "The Chirp with Daren Millard" podcast. "I'm deciding. There's a couple teams that reached out and I said I'm not there yet. I'm probably going to take the rest of the year off and see where I am. It's still a part of me, but I'm going to continue to stay true to myself and my family right now."
Barry Trotz has talked to a few teams recently and hasn't budged on his decision to remain with his family for now.
After Lou Lamoriello's ridiculous decision to fire Trotz, it would make sense for him to take some time to recharge his batteries. However, one would hope things are okay at home for the coach on hiatus. You know he's still got another good playoff run in the tank.
