Brad Marchand takes a shot at the Toronto Maple Leafs greedy core
The Boston Bruins and Toronto Maple Leafs and two of the top teams in the NHL. Unfortunately for both teams the current playoff format ensures that only one of the two teams makes it to the Eastern Conference Finals. The two teams have split this year's season series and are set to meet tonight for game 3.
Ahead of tonight's game Brad Marchand was asked about how the Bruins have maintained being successful for so long and the star didn't disappoint.
Guys have tried to take less to win because we know that it bleeds through the lineup. If you can have six guys that make lower salary other than three, it's a lot harder to play against. And that's why we've been good for so long.
It's clear when Marchand speaks about 3 players being paid he's referring to Auston Matthews, John Tavares and Mitch Marner, who combined for over $33,500,000 per season. In comparison, the Bruins entire forward group for tonight's game makes $43,000,000 this year.
It's clear the rivalry between these two teams is still alive and well. A playoff meeting between the two could be inevitable, but only if the Maple Leafs are able to break their 1st round curse.
