Brandon Hagel gets away with an extremely dangerous cross check
The Tampa Bay Lightning and Florida Panthers are currently involved in an afternoon matinee. The Lightning currently hold a 2-0 series lead against their cross state rivals. In the 1st period of the game things took a dangerous turn as Brandon Hagel was called for
checking against Eetu Luostarinen.
On the play Hagel delivered a dangerous push to the back of Luostarinen. The push came at a dangerous distance from the boards. The shove sent Luostarinen off balance and hard into the end boards.
The play was initially called a major by the referee on the ice, but upon review it was reduced to a minor penalty. Any play at this distance from the boards is always a dangerous play and something the league has been trying to crack down on.
Luostarinen missed a couple of shifts but has since returned to the game.
