Brendan Lemieux gives a hilarious excuse about why he bit Brady Tkachuk
Brendan Lemieux is your prototypical «pest» player. Physical, high-energy, and never quiet would all be ways to describe Lemieux's game. His no-holds-barred game can endear himself to fans just as much as it can frustrate them.
Lemieux was on the Dropping Gloves podcast sharing his side of the biting incident, between himself and Brady Tkachuk during a game last season. Lemieux's actions got him a five game suspension.
"I had my hands tied up, and when a guy sticks his fingers in your eyes, you don't have much choice. I'm not going to get into exactly what happened but I got my eyes gouged and didn't have much of a choice. Whether I bit him or my mouth was open . I could care less at this point."
Lemieux on the incident
"I don't need to cry and whine to the media about two brothers from Canada running their mouths. I'm not going to try and fight that battle."
Lemieux on the Tkachuk brothers.
Tkachuk claimed Brendan Lemieux bit him while they tangled during the third period of their game on November 27th, 2001
«It was the most gutless thing somebody could ever do,»
Tkachuk told Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun after the game, a 4-2 Kings win.
«I don't even know what he was thinking, he's just a complete brick head.»
Lemieux is not the most popular guy around the league and he doesn't seem to care. The LA Kings like what he brings, signing him to an extension earlier in the offseason. Lemieux signed a one-year deal with a $1,350,000 AAV. During the 2021-2022 season the 31st pick from 2014 scored 8 goals, 13 points, 97 penalty minutes in 50 games played.
The LA Kings play the Ottawa Senators on November 27th, get your popcorn ready.
