Brendan Shanahan has reportedly banned the Toronto Maple Leafs from having this beverage in the locker room
The Toronto Maple Leafs hired Brendan Shanahan on April 14th, 2014. Shanahan's role was to change the culture for the Toronto Maple Leafs and bring the once great franchise back to relevance. That plan got off to a great start, from the hiring of Mike Babcock, to the drafting of Mitch Marner and lastly the final piece was winning the Draft Lottery to select Auston Matthews.
Unfortunately after finding early success, Shanahan and the Leafs have been unable to get themselves beyond the first round of the playoffs. Because of that its rumored that Shanahan is on thin ice with the franchise, and could be shown the door if the Leafs fail to advance beyond the first round.
According to TikTok account Hockey Illuminati there are some very specific rules that Shanahan has implemented for the Maple Leafs. Hockey Illuminati revealed that over the summer multiple Maple Leafs wanted to change the team's goal song, but Shanny shut down that request because his kids love the song.
Another rule that might be surprising to some is that Shanahan has BANNED beer from the Maple Leafs locker room. This has forced the team to adapt in other ways. When Mitch Marner broke the Maple Leafs' franchise record point streak, the team showered him with water when he entered the locker room, an odd choice for a beverage shower.
Compare that to the Tampa Bay Lightning, who recently celebrated Steven Stamkos' 1000th point with a beer shower and a locker room celebration.
It's odd that a President of a team would ban adults from partaking in an adult beverage, but from the video it's clear Shanny has his fingers mixed into absolutely everything the Maple Leafs are allowed to do.
