In Sunday's game against the Washington Capitals, the Boston Bruins lost another key defenceman to injury. With multiple defenceman already hurt, including Hampus Lindholm, the Bruins depth is getting shallower on defence. Halfway through the first period Matt Grzelyk was hit into the boards awkwardly.

It was hard to tell what exactly happened, but Grzelyk went to the bench gingerly, gripping his right shoulder. Grzelyk has been having a career year with the Bruins. He has already set a career high in both points and assists. Boston later announced the Grzelyk will not be returning to the game with an upper body injury.

With the Bruins' still competing with that Toronto Maple Leafs and Tampa Bay Lightning to lock in positioning before the post season begins, this could be another major blow. The Bruins went on to drop today's game 4-2 to the Washington Capitals.

This loss leaves the Bruins 5-points back of the Maple Leafs and 1-point up on the Lightning, but the Lightning have a game in hand.
