Although it's early in the season, things have not gone according to plan for the Calgary Flames. They sit at six wins in their first fourteen games. They're towards to bottom of the league in goals scored with forty-one. Jonathan Huberdeau, one of the Flames biggest pickups, only has one goal so far this season.
It does take time for new players to learn a new team and learn a new system but this has to be an area of concern for Calgary.
NHL insider Elliotte Friedman reports that the Calgary Flames have been looking for a forward to help with some much needed goal scoring. The Flames also do not have a lot of salary cap space to take on a contract, unless include a roster player is part of trade. It will be interesting to see what general manager Brad Treliving does to address the teams scoring troubles.
Calgary was considered to be a cup contender this year but have struggled thus far. Calgary went through some significant roster changes last off- season losing Johnny Gaudreau and Matthew Tkachuk. As replacements they added Nazem Kadri, Jonathan Huberdeau, and MacKenzie Weeger.
Perhaps Treliving is starting to feel some pressure. If the trade market doesn't pan out, Calgary could look as is recalling their 2020 first round pick Connor Zary who has eleven points in eleven games with the Wranglers.
