The Calgary Flames' season didn't end the way they wanted it to when they were eliminated in the second round in 5 games to the Edmonton Oilers. As they shift into off-season mode there are a lot of questions, most notably that of superstar winger and now free agent Johnny Gaudreau. There have been numerous rumours surrounding Gaudreau, that he would walk to Philly, re-sign with the Flames at a very discounted rate (although that turned out to be a false rumour created by non-other than disgraced radio host, Dean Blundell)

Now, according to TSN's Darren Dreger, it wouldn't be a surprise if Johnny Hockey may test the open market to see what kind of money he could fetch.

Gaudreau, 28, is coming off his best professional season by far with the Flames in which he scored 40 goals and 75 assists for 115 total points in all 82 games. It wouldn't be out there to assume Gaudreau would test the open waters to see what kind of money he can get on the free-agent market.

In fact, I would be willing to bet that if he does test free agency he would fetch north of 10 million dollars annually.
