The fans were treated to a dramatic game at the American Airlines Center in Dallas on Monday night. The Dallas Stars were hosting the Calgary Flames.

The Flames had the lead 4-3 with just under six minutes left when Stars' captain Jamie Benn scored his 26th goal of the season.

After Dallas failed to capitalize on a late power play following a boarding penalty against Nick Ritchie, it looked like the game was headed to overtime. Flames winger Jonathan Huberdeau gathered the puck from his own end and dished a beautiful feed to a streaking Tyler Toffoli, sending him in on a breakaway against Dallas goalie Jake Oettinger. Toffoli blasted a wrister glove side beating Oettinger for the game winner with 6.2 seconds left on the clock.

Toffoli took a peek at the clock as he was charging down the middle of the ice toward the Dallas net.

«I saw that I had enough time to kind of do whatever I wanted, and obviously made the right choice,»
Toffoli said.
«It was a massive win,» said Flames defenceman Rasmus Andersson in a post-game interview. «When Toff got that breakaway, I was just kind of praying that he would score. And thank God he did. The feeling when you saw the puck go in, it was really nice.»

Even with the win the Flames are a long shot to make the playoffs, they are now five points out of the second wildcard spot. It certainly wasn't an easy win, but maybe a dramatic win like that will be something to build off of. With the win in Dallas the Flames snapped a five-game losing streak.
