Camera captures Sheldon Keefe roasting the referee after another blown call
First and foremost, referees are human and they make mistakes. There is a lot that goes into every call that is made, but that doesn't excuse a team of 4 officials from making an absolutely awful call. That's exactly what happened at the end of the 1st period of last night's Maple Leafs game.
With the Ottawa Senators leading the game 1-0, goaltender Anton Forsberg makes a big save. The puck is immediately cleared by a Senators, unfortunately the puck goes out of play and into the netting. This should have resulted in a 2 minute penalty for delay of game.
Unfortunately for the Leafs, no referee or linesman on the ice saw the puck go directly out of play. Instead they claimed it deflected off of the Leafs player. This play left Sheldon Keefe absolutely fired up. Keefe could be seen yelling from the bench at the referees saying:
How many are you guys going to fuck up today? Come on man.
The Leafs would go onto win the game 3-2, making this play inconsequential, but it does raise the question if teams should be able to use their challenges for more things.
