Camera catches Gerard Gallant cursing about one of his players effort after game winning goal
Last night the New York Rangers made the trip to Winnipeg to play their 3rd game of this young season. After going 2-0-0 in their first 2 games, the Rangers fell 4-1 to the Jets. Rangers' Head Coach, Gerard Gallant is a very passionate coach who demands the highest effort from his players.
That's why last night he was so frustrated with his group after what he deemed an unacceptable defensive effort level. After Sam Gagner scored what would eventually be the game winning goal, the camera panned to the Rangers bench where Gallant can clearly be scene mouthing:
On Gagner's goal it's clear that Trocheck doesn't pick up his man, something that would have prevented the goal.
After the game Gallant continued his critique of his forwards in his post game comments:
I wasn't disappointed with our offensive output, I was disappointed with the defense. And that's not defensemen, that's defensive game.
Gallant has high expectations for his team this season and a lack of an effort on the defensive end will not be an accepted. The Rangers are considered possible the Cup favorites in the East and Gallant is going to make sure his team gets there.
