After the decisions by the NHL not to attend the 2022 Olympics in Beijing due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it seemed like the NHL might not be interested in attending the Olympics again. However, some information has become available that is going to make some Canadians very happy.

According to a report from CBC Vancouver Reporter, Justin McElroy, the City of Vancouver will vote on whether or not to put in an official bid to host the 2030 Winter Olympics.

Vancouver, of course, hosted the 2010 Winter Olympics which ended in dramatic fashion with Canada's Sidney Crosby scoring the Golden Goal OT winner against the USAto deliver a "Once in a Lifetime Olympic Gold" as called by CTV's Chris Cuthbert.

If indeed Vancouver submits a bid to host the games, they're expected to go up against bids from other former hosts such as: Salt Lake City, Sapporo, Japan and Albertville, France. Salt Lake City of course hosted the 2002 Winter Olympics but there are reasons to believe that the Salt Lake City organizing committee may push their bid to 2034, since the 2028 Summer Olympics will be held in Los Angeles, USA.

It's believed that Vancouver would be a frontrunner to win the bid for the Games, if city council elects to put in a bid. The last Olympics in Vancouver were in 2010 and were a huge success.

The last Olympics the NHL participated in was in 2014. The players and fans want to get back into the Olympic games representing their countries and a games on North American soil could help that.
