The Canucks battle for a playoff spot continued on Friday night against the Washington Capitals.

The Capitals were getting the bulk of the scoring chances as soon as the puck dropped. Evgeny Kuznetsov opened the scoring for his 17th of the year. Kuznetsov then scored his 18th on the powerplay less than a minute later to put the Capitals up 2-0.

The Canucks generated some chances in the 2nd period but they were not able to solve the Capitals goalie Vitek Vanecek and the game remained 2-0.

During the 2nd intermission Boudreau was told by one of the captains not to go into the room and talk to the team I got this. Luke Schenn revealed that Player to be J.T. Miller. That's leadership Boudreau was quoted after the game.

One of the captains told me not to come into the room to talk to the team after the second period and said "I'll take care of this.

That's leadership. - Boudreau

The player in question? JT Miller

Miller's talk during the 2nd intermission seemed to light a fire under the Canucks. As 57 seconds in, Quinn Hughes scored his 5th of the year. The Canucks scored the next two goals to take the lead 3-2. Miller had two assists to help out his team, before Evengy Kuznetsov scored his Hat-Trick goal to tie the game up 3-3.

The game went to Overtime and 42 seconds in Lars Eller scored to get the win for the Capitals.

With the point picked up in OT the Canucks have 65 points on the year, and sit two points back of the Stars with three extra games played.

J.T. Miller continues to be the engine of the Canucks and it will be interesting to see if he is moved at the deadline.
