Casey Cizikas buries Brendan Smith from behind with a HEAVY hit
In the 3rd period of the New York Islanders versus Carolina Hurricanes game, Casey Cizikas threw a huge hit that rocked Brendan Smith. On the play Smith went into the boards waiting for the puck, but he was hit directly from behind with the heavy hit. .
Cizikas received a 2-minute penalty for boarding on the play and Brendan Smith was forced to leave the game. Smith has yet to return to the game.
This has been a tough year for Smith who suffered a skull fracture earlier this year, which caused him to lose his hearing.
