Conflicting reports surface as another team re-enters Giroux sweepstakes
Last night it seemed like the writing was on the wall, Claude Giroux seemed destined to be a Florida Panther. But not so fast... This morning it seems there are new reports that once news of Giroux's impending deal began to leak that another team may have upped their offer.
Both Pierre LeBrun and Adrian Dater, who had initially thought the deal was done sent out the following messages:
Dater also added:
Here's the deal with Avs/Giroux: Avs have an offer in. They haven't been told they're out. Flyers may just sleep on it. Seems like Florida still has lead, but Avs aren't told they're out.
Avs are of the belief that Giroux would just be icing on the cake of the Cup they already think they can win without him. But if Flyers take their offer - great! More icing.
This could simply be a negotiations tactic or Giroux, who holds a full no movement clause, may have even suggested that he prefer the Flyers move in a certain direction.
