THE STANLEY CUP.
He had a great opportunity last season after having been dealt to the Florida Panthers at the trade deadline, but fell short after getting swept by Tampa Bay in the second round.
Giroux is an unrestricted free agent and is looking for another run for the cup and sources are pointing him towards another team in the Eastern Conference. According to Elliotte Friedman, Giroux is linked to the Toronto Maple Leafs, stating:
Friedman on Real Kyper & Bourne talking Giroux/Leafs: "If he hits the market, I wouldn't be surprised if they called him and just said, what would it take? He's building a home in Ottawa, he made it very clear last year at the deadline he prefers to stay in the East". NHL Watcher (@NHL_Watcher) July 4, 2022
As mentioned Giroux is currently building a home and Ottawa is a great choice for Giroux as he comes from there. Giroux also played in the Q with the Gatineau Olympiques, but the Senators aren't considered Cup Contenders. So if being close to home is on Giroux's radar, maybe a trip down the 401 to Toronto would be the next logical choice.
