Craig Smith nails Tony DeAngelo with a blind side hit into the end boards
The Boston Bruins and Carolina Hurricanes are currently involved in a very physical Game 7. With the winner moving on, both teams are trying to use their physicality to set a tone. This series, the Bruins have focused a lot of their attention on Tony DeAngelo, and tonight was no different.
With only 4-minutes gone in the 1st period, Bruins' Craig Smith saw an opportunity to lay a hit on DeAngelo. Unfortunately for Smith, he hit DeAngelo from his blind side and drove DeAngelo into the boards. Upon seeing the hit, the referee's arm immediately went up.
After the hit Vincent Trocheck delivered a hit to Smith and surprisingly he was also called for a penalty on the play. Both Smith and Trocheck were assessed minor penalties for roughing.
The Hurricanes are currently leading the Game 2-1 in the 2nd period.
