Another night in the NHL, another controversial play. During last night's Battle of Alberta, in the last minutes of the game, a potentially dangerous hit occurred. In the final 2 minutes the puck was dumped into the Oilers' zone and defenceman Philip Broberg went to retrieve the puck with Flames forward Milan Lucic charging in. Broberg had braced himself for a hit but he was not excepting Lucic to come at him from the angle and with the speed in which Lucic did.

After the hit Philip Broberg was down for a while, but he managed to skate off on his own back to the bench and it doesn't seem like he was seriously injured.

With the impact and angle of this hit this could have been a lot more serious. The referees however did not see a penalty on the play. Tyler Benson of the Edmonton Oilers was irate on the bench and let the referees know he thought that should've been a penalty. Benson was assessed a ten-minute misconduct and sent to the locker room for the rest of the game.

So was this a bad hit or just player putting themselves in a bad position?
