Jared McCann agrees to lucrative extension with the Seattle Kraken
When the Toronto Maple Leafs exposed forward Jared McCann in the Seattle Expansion Draft this past summer, I'm not sure anyone could foresee the 25-year-old has recording a career high 21 goals and 33 points through 50 games this season.
Now on pace for a 54-point season, which could also be the best of his career, McCann has agreed to terms on a multi-year contract extension with the Kraken on Tuesday.
Per TSN's Chris Johnston, McCann and the Kraken have reached a deal worth $25M over 5 years, a $5M AAV. With the Stratford, Ontario native locked up through the 2026-27 season, the future appears bright in Seattle.
McCann was originally drafted in the 1st round (24th overall) by the Vancouver Canucks back in 2014. In 403 career NHL games, the former Soo Greyhound has recorded 87 goals and 188 points split between the Canucks, Panthers Penguins and now the Kraken.
