Dany Heatley reportedly set to return to the NHL in an off-ice role
Before hanging up the skates in 2016, Dany Heatley was a fan-favourite in the National Hockey League after being drafted by the Thrashers and becoming a star with Ottawa.
The former second-overall pick has been enjoying retirement for the last several years, but it appears that he's gearing up to take on a role in the NHL.
According to Charlie O'Connor of The Athletic, the Philadelphia Flyers are potentially going to hire Dany Heatley to scout for the team.
"Forgot to report this last week given how busy it was, but I heard at the draft to keep an eye out for Dany Heatley potentially joining the Flyers' organization in the coming days/weeks in a scouting role." O'Connor said.
Heatley, 42, played parts of 13 seasons in the National Hockey League with the Atlanta Thrashers, Ottawa Senators, San Jose Sharks, Minnesota Wild and the Anaheim Ducks, appearing in 869 games while recording 791 points. In back-to-back seasons while with the Senators, Heatley scored 50 goals.
