Tim Peel was fired by the NHL after he was caught on a hot mic admitting that he'd called a penalty against the Nashville Predators, despite there not being an infraction on the play. This brought attention to what fans knew happened all along, but it was the first time fans had proof.

Since being terminated by the league Peel has gone onto create a podcast and has created a Twitter account. On his account yesterday Peel opted to host an "Ask me anything". It was then when a fan asked a question about game management.

I'll ask the obvious, are make up calls really a thing? Was it something the league instructed you to do? How do you feel about your part in this?

That is when Peel replied with a very convoluted answer that despite his attempt, admitted that referees in fact do alter the course of a game based off of previous penalties called.

That's a great question and a very fair question. Make up calls are not a thing. What happens is if we have so many penalties against one team our antennas are up to make sure we do not miss a penalty against the other team.

It didn't take long for fans to jump all over this reply and absolutely lay into Peel.

All fans watching the game want is consistency, but it's clear officials are more concerned with the penalty discrepancy which in fact alters the outcome of games. This likely won't be the last time Peel sticks his foot in his mouth.
