Social Media lit up last night after a brutal hit by David Pastrnak of the Boston Bruins on the New York Rangers' Ryan Lindgren. There was a flurry of debate over whether Pastrnak should receive a suspension or whether Lindgren put himself in danger by turning at the last second. The NHL's Department of Player Safety has now weighed in.

Here was the hit that got Pastrnak five minutes for boarding and a game misconduct from the officials. Lindgren left the game. He returned around five minutes into the third period, as he likely underwent the NHL's concussion protocol.

As it turns out, DoPS is either siding with those who feel Lindgren was at some fault, or that the initial penalties were enough. The major triggers a review by Plater Safety, but there's no fine or suspension coming.

"No @NHLPlayerSafety hearing for David Pastrnak after his major and game misconduct for boarding Ryan Lindgren last night, source says. #NYR"

I'm not sure I agree with Player Safety on this one. There was no way Pastrnak was going to make a hit without Lindgren crashing into the boards in that situation. However, clearly Player Safety head George Parros disagrees.
