Former second round pick Martin Frk is currently applying his craft in Europe with the Swiss A league but has gotten himself in trouble for what some fans are describing as attempted murder.

In a game on December 8th between Lausanne and Rapperswil-Jona, Frk attemtped a hit on defenceman Lawrence Pilut. Frk missed but his momentum had him in his own bench. As his feet were dangling Frk appeared to throw a kicking motion hitting Pilut.

Fortunately, Pilut was not injured on the play. Initially, Frk was given a one-game suspension, but after an investigation into the incident, the disciplinary committee in Switzerland punished the former Red Wings player with a five-game suspension along with a fine of 7,600 Swiss francs ($8,744).

Fans have taken to social media to give their opinion, with some asking for a lifetime ban for Frk's reckless behavior.

"Reckless beyond belief, fortunately this didn't end someone's life."

"How is this only a 5 game suspension? this is the kinda thing that should keep him out of pro hockey forever."

The 49th pick from the 2012 draft skated in 124 NHL games with the Detroit Red Wings, LA Kings and Carolina Hurricanes scoring 21 goals and 41 points.

The 30 year old, spent the entirety of last season in the AHL with the Springfield Thunderbirds. Frk opted to sign a two-year deal in Switzerland instead of staying in North America.
