Drew Doughty gives speech ahead of his 1000th game.. in division rival's arena
Los Angeles Kings defender Drew Doughty celebrated an impressive career milestone on Tuesday, but unfortunately, he could not celebrate playing his 1000th game in his home arena in Los Angeles. Instead, he was left to awkwardly speak publicly in Edmonton - but at least he had a good sense of humour about it.
During his speech, Doughty thanked his family, his teammates, coaches.. the usual rounds.. but then he did something to break the tension and create some smiles and laughter when he thanked the Oilers and their fans for suffering through the pre-game ceremony.
Doughty's teammates also did something very cool to commemorate the veteran defender's milestone night as they presented him with an incredibly detailed hand-drawn portrait from PietensArt.
Congrats to the 32-year-old on a sure fire Hall-of-Fame career, and hopefully there are many more years and many more milestones ahead.
