Evander Kane's continued legal troubles will force him to miss games for the Oilers
Evander Kane will not be in the lineup against the Columbus Blue Jackets and the reason why, isn't injury related. Kane has bankruptcy trails to attend to. Kane shouldn't look for any sympathy as he's made millions of millions of dollars from playing hockey. But, while Kane has appeared to have straightened his life out, he still has pending legal issues surrounding his previous bankruptcy.
If you're going to have Evander Kane on your roster these are some of the things an organization has to deal with, but the Oilers knew that when they signed him. Although Kane has value and can score goals and play physical, his off-ice drama has been a disaster. Perhaps this is why he is already on his fourth NHL franchise. The Kane issues don't stop at bankruptcy either. He has gone through a divorce, gotten himself in trouble gambling, and had assault charges filed against him, but since joining the Edmonton Oilers, Kane has managed to keep his nose clean.
Hopefully once Kane gets this issue behind him, he can continue to play regularly for the Oilers because they need him for their playoff push. While many believe that with Kane's deplorable behavior he shouldn't even be allowed to be in the league anymore, he has shown that he can make the most out of his last chance.
