Flyers goalie issues his first comment since being arrested and shipped to Arctic Circle
When Ivan Fedotov signed a contract in May to join the Philadelphia Flyers, he had high hopes of beginning his career in North America. Unfortunately as Fedotov made plans to leave Russia he was arrested and accused of producing fraudulent military documents. Fedotov was arrested, taken into custody and that's when things started to get scary.
Fedotov had reportedly been injected with an unknown substance before being admitted to a hospital. Eventually it was revealed by Fedotov's lawyer, that he had been assigned to a military base in the Arkhangelsk, within the Arctic Circle.
Now Ivan Fedotov's wife has shared the following message to fans via her social media account:
At a difficult time for us, we - the family and loved ones - can't help but notice how a huge number of concerned people around the world are responding to Ivan's story. At Ivan's request, we want to pass on his words of gratitude.
I would like to thank all of my fans at this difficult time for their support and comments on media publications. Guys, thank you for not ignoring my situation! Thank you to everyone who leaves a mark in my life story with their voice and participation. Thank you to the professional community for your perspective, whatever it may be. I know I hear your voices, and it gives me strength and strengthens my faith in the best outcome of my situation.
Hopefully for the sake of Fedotov he's able to eventually make it to North America where he can hopefully play for the Flyers.
