Blackhawks end contract with legendary announcer
The Chicago Blackhawks are looking to completely overhaul their image. Part of this means completely rebranding and finding ways to engage their audience to do so. Now it seems the team has opted to end their agreement with long-time announcer Eddie Olczyk.
Olczyk was a member of the Blackhawks broadcast team for that last 16 years. Olczyk was the voice of the Blackhawks for their multiple Championships. For many Olczyk represents the only voice of the Blackhawks that they've ever known.
The decision comes after Olczyk's contract expired last month and the Blackhawks opted to not renew the deal. But Olczyk won't be out of the job long as it appears he will be headed to join the Seattle Kraken's announce team.
With the Blackhawks entering a complete teardown it appears that the Hawks have chosen to undergo full scale changes both off and on the ice.
