Hockey is a high octane sport that is physical in nature and if you don't keep your head up, there's a surprise around every corner.
Yesterday in the KHL SKA St. Petersburg took on Ak Bars Kazan. Ak Bars forward Alexander Radulov caught St. Petersburg's Valentin Zykov with his head down sending him and his teeth flying: take a look:
There was no call on the play and Radulov did seem to hit him from an awkward angle, no call on the play is questionable at best, especially because he appeared to catch him in the mouth
The damage done as a result of the hit is not for the faint of heart, Zykov lost all but one tooth in the top row of his mouth.
This is what happens when you skate down the middle of the ice with your head down. If you do, you risk losing all of your teeth
