Former NHLer overcomes addiction and signs a contract to return to professional hockey
Ian White was initially drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs 191st overall in the 2002 NHL Draft. White went onto play 503 career NHL games with the Leafs, Flames, Hurricanes, Sharks and Red Wings. White eventually had his career derailed by very public struggle with addiction.
His addiction cost him everything, his career, his family and his financial stability. But through those struggles White has found strength and sobriety and today it was announced he'd managed to sign a contract to join the FPHL.
Today the Motor City Rockers made the following announcement:
We are happy to announce the acquisition of former Red Wing defenseman Ian White. Ian will be in the Rockers lineup this Friday vs. the Port Huron Prowlers at Big Boy Arena in Fraser
We wish White luck with his continued battles and his return to professional hockey.
