Former Toronto Maple Leafs prospect ejected for spearing opponent in the balls
Yegor Korshkov was a 2nd round pick of the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2016. Korshkov made his NHL debut during the 2019-2020 season, playing in 1 game where he scored his 1st and only NHL goal. Unfortunately for Korshkov and the Maple Leafs he was never able to make the leap full-time into the NHL.
Since that time Korshkov has been playing for Lokomotiv of the KHL. While Korshkov never blossomed into the talent that was expected he did become a serviceable middle six forward.
Today though Korshkov caught the eye of fans and the league disciplinary committee after a vicious spear to the groin of an opponent.
Korshkov was given a 5 minute major and game misconduct and is expected to face supplemental discipline for the play.
