On the Spittin' Chiclets podcast today, guest Matt Murley told a surprising story about Maple Leafs' Head Coach Sheldon Keefe. In the story he explained just how Keefe was during his junior hockey days. Murley told a story of a time when Keefe was suspended for eye gouging him.
In game 5 of a playoff series, Keefe grabbed Murley in the midst of a fight, and proceeded to attempt to gouge his eyes. Keefe was suspended only 2 games, while Murley spoke about having to wear an eye patch for several days due to the incident.
It's insightful to hear these types of stories about Sheldon Keefe, who typically presents a calm and calculated demeanour. This kind of story would suggest Keefe has an integral role with the Leafs playing more physical hockey as of late.
