Former teammates have the Fight of the Night in Smashville
Last night's Nashville Predators and Calgary Flames was a little bit of a throw-back to the bloody-knuckle Broadstreet era of the old National Hockey League. It didn't take long for the hostilities to boil over between former teammates, Erik Gudbranson and Tanner Jeannot.
With 3:07 left in the first period, Gudbranson went into the corner and laid a solid hit on Jeannot, before long the two agreed and the gloves were down as the two were at it. Here's the video:
Both men were assessed a 5-minute major for fighting, and after a tilt like that, I'm sure they were happy to oblige.
If this is an indication of what a playoff series between the two western rivals would be like, the chase for the cup can't begin soon enough
