Brassard, 34, is a familiar face for Ottawa fans, having played parts of two seasons with the team in the past. While his time was relatively successful, many remember him as being part of one of the worst trades in Senators' history. Brassard was sent to Ottawa in 2016 in exchange for Mika Zibanejad. Zibanejad has developed into a superstar while Brassard has been bouncing around the league.
After starting with the Columbus Blue Jackets and then going through New York and Ottawa, the veteran forward has played for the Pittsburgh Penguins, Florida Panthers, Colorado Avalanche, New York Islanders, Arizona Coyotes, Philadelphia Flyers, and Edmonton Oilers. Last year saw him record 19 points in 46 games and now he is just searching for a place to play.
Dal Colle was a No. 5 overall pick in 2014, but hasn't found his footing in the NHL. In 112 NHL games over five seasons, all with the New York Islanders, the 26-year-old has eight goals and 13 assists.
Last season, Dal Colle played almost the entirety of his campaign with the AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, registering 22 points in 39 games.
Dal Colle played under Senators' coach D.J. Smith in the OHL with the Oshawa Generals.
Brassard and Dal Colle will be facing some tough competition to earn roster spots in the bottom six. They will be competing with Shane Pinto, Alex Formenton, Auston Watson and newly signed Tyler Motte who signed a one-year contract yesterday.
