The National Hockey League has been losing viewership for some time now, that's no secret, but now a prominent agent has once again called out the NHL for being surpassed in audience for big games.
Player agent Allan Walsh has taken to Twitter to point out the lack of viewership the NHL continues to have while many major sports are gaining in popularity, take a look:
Stanley Cup Final, Game 6 in 2022 averaged 5.8 million viewers on the same network. Gary Bettman, take a bow!
While it's great Women's basketball is reaching new heights in popularity, this shows how far the NHL has fallen in terms of its reach and being able to connect with their audience.
Walsh is no stranger to criticizing Gary Bettman and his business decisions, but this on this occasion it shows how much one of the 4 major sports is hurting.
Bettman has been touted as one great business mind, which to a certain extent his is, but at what point do he (or the owners) notice that over the long term, he'll only hurt the game of hockey even further?
