Anytime you step on the ice, whether it's a game or a practice, you put your body on the line. In this case, a goaltender got nailed in the eye, in what is a freak incident.

In a photo circulating on Twitter that is believed to Jake Bennett, goaltender for the University of Alberta, he took a puck right to the eye, literally. Take a look.

Honestly, he's lucky he still has vision in that eye. It's hard to believe that mask is legal, the opening seems to large to be acceptable.

In any case, I'm just glad he's okay. He's certainly got a heck of a story to tell for the future.

If Cats Eye masks are legal at the USports, this incident should change that. It seems like a one in a million shot and it is, but one has to thing they would put rules in place to curb these incidents.

Hockey players no matter the level, are some of the toughest people out there.
