The Montreal Canadiens have completed their biggest priority signing announcing today that their leading goal scorer for the last two seasons has signed a long term contract. Cole Caufield and Montreal have agreed to terms on an eight-year contract extension with a cap hit of $7,875,000. This is the identical contract good friend and team captain Nick Suzuki signed at the beginning of the 2021-2022 season.

A deal under $7.87M for a proven goal scorer will be a bargain in the future for Montreal. The 22 year old sniper looks primed to take his goal scoring to another level. He scored 26 goals in just 46 games last season.

This is great business by general manager Kent Huges. Having both Caufield and Suzuki signed to deals worth under $16M sets up the salary structure of the roster nicely.
