NHL announces travel restrictions for the Stanley Cup this summer
The Stanley Cup has been and will always be one of the toughest trophies to win in all of sports, and it's customary for the winning team's players to take it back to their respective countries to celebrate, but if you're Russian, that won't be possible.
According to Luke Fox of Sportsnet, the National Hockey League won't allow the Cup to be taken to Russia due to the ongoing conflict with Ukraine. This is the second year in a row it'll not be allowed to be taken over there; take a look.
This makes a lot of sense, given what's happening in that part of the world right now and the political climate surrounding the entire situation. Still, you have to feel for the Russian-born players on both the Florida Panthers and Vegas Golden Knights.
Hopefully, it won't be too long before everything is sorted out so that it can't return to Russia, for now though, the Stanley Cup has to stay away from the country.
