Breaking news out of the NHL as goaltending legend Patrick Roy returns to the NHL in a new position

A huge move has been made in the NHL. After years of sticking to the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League as a head coach and general manager, goaltending and hockey legend Patrick Roy is officially returning to the NHL.

The New York Islanders have announced that Lane Lambert is out as their bench boss, with his replacement being the famed No. 33.

"New York Islanders President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Lou Lamoriello announced today that Lane Lambert has been relieved of his coaching responsibilities. Patrick Roy has been named Head Coach of the New York Islanders."

This is a ballsy move by Lamoriello, a guy who's been known to successfully use some hail marys in the past. After retiring from active play, Roy was eventually hired by the Colorado Avalanche as head coach and Vice-president of Hockey Operations. However, reported clashes with Avs president Joe Sakic eventually led to Roy resigning from his post. That was in August of 2016, and would be his most recent NHL position. This could be a genius move by Lamioriello, or completely backfire if Roy can't control his temper, which seems to go from zero to 60 in milliseconds.
