According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the Carolina Hurricanes have agreed to terms on a one-year contract worth $800,000 with unrestricted free agent forward Brendan Lemieux.

"Hearing Carolina will be signing Brendan Lemieux to one year and $800K" Friedman said in a tweet.

Lemieux, 27, was drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in 2014, but never appeared in a game for them as he was dealt to the Winnipeg Jets just over seven months later.

The Denver, Colorado native is the son of four-time Stanley Cup champion Claude Lemieux and at times, has played like his father. Brendan Lemieux has been suspended twice in his career, including for five games in late-2021 for biting Ottawa Senators forward Brady Tkachuk.

During the 2022-23 season, Lemieux split time between the Los Angeles Kings and Philadelphia Flyers, who acquired him from the 'City of Angels' in March for Zack MacEwan. In 45 games between Los Angeles and Philadelphia, Lemieux had nine points (two goals, seven assists), 74 penalty minutes and was a minus-three.
