Anthony Beauvillier was selected in the 1st round, 28th overall in 2015, and since his NHL debut in 2016-2017, Beauvillier has been a great addition to the Islanders' depth as a consistent, 20 to 30+ point scorer.

So it'd be no surprise that after Barry Trotz is out, the Islanders are taking calls on Beauvillier. Since Trotz took over he hasn't had a season under 20 points.

A change of scenery for him, maybe what finally turns him from a middle-six winger into, more given the right situation and linemates. But word is that the Islanders are looking to keep him unless they can upgrade the spot he'll leave open.

Since Zdeno Chara may be retiring they may need to look to bolster, the defensive pairs as well. Given Lou Lamoriello has made some interesting decisions, by firing their winning coach and promoting their assistant it's hard to tell what their next steps are.

Sure, his last year wasn't good after his solid 2020-21 season. But he's shown that he has the potential for much more than a player that scores a half-point-per-game. Over his career, Beauvillier is scoring at a 0.46pts/GP rate. Don't forget that when it comes to the playoffs, Beauvillier steps up big, scoring at a 0.66pts/GP rate over the Islanders last two runs to the ECF.

Beau's current cap hit is, 2 more seasons, at $4.15 million AAV, so moving him will also help clear the cap space to make room for some additional changes.

Beauvillier made headlines when he hit on Anna Kendrick on Twitter, back in 2019, and hopefully the next time he's in the news, it's for being a 60-point player.
