Jacob Markstrom has been an absolute rock in net this season for the Calgary Flames. This, after a forgettable 2020-21 season in the North Division that saw the 32-year-old post a 22-19-2 record over 43 appearances last year.
Markstrom looks like he has his confidence back this season, improving upon his .904 SV% in 2020-21, posting a .927 SV% this year. He has already surpassed his point total from last season with a 22-10-5 record through 38 games in 2021-22.
In the second period of last nights game against the Seattle Kraken, the Flames gave up an odd man rush and Markstrom made a dazzling save, which showed his athleticism and the confidence that he lacked last season.
Markstrom went old school and delivered the two-pad stack to perfection. The Galve, Sweden native is having a career year, and it's timely saves like that one that have led to the Flames winning more games this season.
