Sunday Night in Montreal was the first home game since the passing of Guy LaFleur. It was only fitting that the Boston Bruins were in town to take on the Montreal Canadiens. The two original six teams have never liked each other.
At the end of the first period Patrice Bergeron was carrying the puck up the middle of the ice. Just as Bergeron passed the puck, Jeff Petry came across and hit Bergeron with a huge hit. Brad Marchand took exception and jumped Petry right away.
Marchand was given a roughing minor for standing up for his teammate. Bergeron wasn't injured on the play, just knocked over. He made the most of the game by scoring 2 goals and an assist as Boston won 5-3.
