John Tortorella still gives the best press conference in the business
John Tortorella was recently hired as the Philadelphia Flyers Head Coach at a $4 million AAV for 4 years.
It sounds like according to this quote, he wasn't happy at ESPN given his last gaffe broke the internet, I'm sure he's happy to get back to coaching.
«I've been out here with horses and dogs, and shoveling shit.»
Sometimes it was of his own creation, given his spicy take on Trevor Zegras' skilled goals. But the Columbus Blue Jackets' winningest coach will go on to change the culture in Philadelphia from zeros back into heroes again.
«I teach structure, being who you want to be, a tough team to play against. You can coin me any way you want. Just show me, show your teammates you want to do stuff away from the offensive side of the puck. I think it starts with your top guys.»
His goals are definitely attainable if Chuck Fletcher can set him up with the right pieces. He sounds motivated to get Carter Hart some help on the blueline and have the top guys play to the best of their abilities.
«I think we need to give Carter more support. He's 23, 23.»
He also emphasized working with Kevin Hayes and Cam Atkinson to make the Flyers a better overall organization. Given how big of a two-way style Tortorella emphasizes, I can see Cam York becoming a big contributor in the future too.
