Call them the Bash Brothers. Brady and Matthew Tkachuk wrote hockey history Saturday by dropping their gloves in the opening minute of Team USA's game against Canada.
Their post-fighting dap in the penalty box has traveled around the globe since, as well as their mic'd up moment.
It started with bangs of fireworks, with three fights in the opening nine seconds. Matthew started things off by dropping to fight with Brandon Hagel. Soon enough, his brother Brady followed up by dropping with Sam Bennett.
Once in the box together with his brother, Brady received a swift dap from Matthew by way of solidifying their status as hockey's modern-day enforcement agents, followed by an epic mic'd up moment.
It's their first official partnership in this 4 Nations tourney since the 2023 NHL All-Star Game. They even reportedly coordinated their fights beforehand through pre-game text messages.
Whereas their other NHL counterparts receive headlines for their questionable hits from blindside areas, the Tkachuk brothers' willingness to duke it out face-to-face is earning their respect, especially from their American counterparts.
Brady accumulated six hits, while Matthew delivered two before he was forced to leave in the third with an upper-body injury.
As for his absence in their final game, their team was good enough for their 3-1 win to reach the Championship game, so it's quite possible Matthew will rest up on Monday.
We might not see so many fights on Monday now that their championship game is set, but at least now we have their legendary Tkachuk dap GIF and mic'd up moment to hold dear for all eternity.
