Josh Manson reportedly already knows where he wants to sign, and it's not Colorado
At the trade deadline this year, the Colorado Avalanche bolstered their blueline with the acquisition of Josh Manson from the Anaheim Ducks. The Avs of course would then go on to raise the holy grail of the hockey world, the Stanley Cup. Now that the off-season is here, Manson is a free agent and from the sounds of it, California is where the heart is.
According to Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff, Manson would like to be able to re-sign with the Ducks when free agency opens on July 13th, a little under 2 weeks away. The feeling is that Manson loved playing for Anaheim, didn't want to be traded in the first place and would now like to return «home».
You know, you don't see this a lot in any major sport these days-loyalty to a franchise has fallen by the wayside in lieu of money or term, but not in Manson's case. He decided to be a team player and go where he was needed at the time and now he's exercising his right as a free agent to return to an organization he felt most comfortable with.
It's nice to hear a story like this once in a while, it proves(even though he's likely going to get paid very well) that for some people playing on the NHL isn't all about the money
