KHL player rushed to hospital via ambulance after scary play
During a KHL playoff game in Wednesday, between Metallurg Magnitogorsk and Avangard Omsk there was an extremely scary moment that resulted in a player being rushed to a local hospital.
In the 3rd period of the game Alexei Maklyukov, of Omsk, attempted to take a slapshot but Alexei Gristyuk tried to block the shot. The puck unfortunately took Maklyukov off the side of the head. It was clear that Maklyukov was hurt and almost as soon as the trainer got to him he threw up the "X" symbol. The "X" symbol is often used to signal a serious injury requiring a stretcher.
Maklyukov was loaded onto a stretcher and rushed to the hospital. It's clear by the blood on the ice that this was a serious injury. There has been no update on his condition at this time.
