Kris Letang becomes the first defender in NHL history to accomplish an incredible accomplishment
The Pittsburgh Penguins have been part of many incredible moments over the last 15+ years. The core of Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and Kris Letang have accomplished many things. However, tonight Kris Letang accomplished something no defender has ever done before.
In the second period of tonight's game the Penguins offense had an incredible outburst putting up 6 goals. On those 6 goals, Letang found himself on the scoresheet 5 times with 5 assists. This was a task that had never been accomplished by anyone before.
Kris Letang's five assists in the second vs NYI is the first time in NHL history a defenceman got five points in one period
This incredible accomplishment is just another reason that Letang is bound to find himself in the Hall of Fame once his career ends. The Penguins went onto win the game 7-0 in what could be a very pivotal game if they're looking to turn their season around.
